New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s quest for the Republican presidential nomination may already be sinking — fast. Having shook off “Bridgegate” last year, the governor now faces a federal criminal investigation over allegations he and his staff quashed grand jury indictments of his supporters.
The International Business Times reported this morning that federal investigators met with a former county prosecutor’s office employee who says he was fired after launching investigations into Christie supporters. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has declined to comment; Christie’s office claims the governor doesn’t know anything about the allegations.
