Real estate and construction mogul Donald Trump, a now-likely Republican presidential candidate, has been announced as this year’s keynote speaker for the Pottawattamie County GOP’s Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner to be held in May.
Trump is still in the process of wrapping up his wildly popular “The Celebrity Apprentice” reality TV program on NBC, which has been fast-tracked this season and will conclude next Monday evening. Some have speculated the fast-tracked season is meant to leave Trump free to campaign without violating Federal Elections Commission regulations.
Republican Party of Pottawattamie County Chairman Jeff Jorgensen made the announcement Tuesday via press release. The Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the Student Center on the Iowa Western Community College campus in Council Bluffs.
Joining Trump that evening will be former U.S. Rep. Tom Latham, who will be presented with the Pottawattamie County GOP’s Distinguished Legislative Service Award. He served 10 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, most recently representing Iowa’s Third Congressional District, which included Pottawattamie County.
