U.S. Reps. Rod Blum (R-IA 1) and Beto O’Rourke (D-TX 16), announced the formation of the bipartisan Congressional Term Limits Caucus today.
“As someone coming to Congress from the private sector, I believe Washington suffers from a lack of fresh, innovative ideas and the courage to implement them,” said Blum, who along with O’Rourke will serve as Co-Chair of the caucus.
Blum continued: “The root of this problem is that politicians are incentivized by the system to care more about retaining their position than doing what is best for the country. Our founding fathers never intended for public service to be a career, rather, serving in Congress was designed to be a temporary sacrifice made for the public good. As Co-Chair of the Congressional Term Limits Caucus, I’m looking forward to working with my fellow Co-Chair Representative O’Rourke to build momentum for this common sense bipartisan reform.”
The Congressional Term Limit Caucus is a bi-partisan membership organization with the focus of enacting term limit legislation for members of Congress. As Co-Chairs, Rep. Blum and Rep. O’Rourke will work to increase membership and to build momentum towards this important reform.
