LEON-On the heels of Trump’s refusal for the US to participate in the Paris Accord, Congressman Loebsack (D, Iowa City) said that he supports cities and states that file lawsuits in opposition to President Trump’s decision.
“You remember those bumper stickers that said “Think Globally, Act Locally”? I expect that we’re going to start seeing a lot more of that as these cities and states take action in opposition, and I think that’s a good thing.”
When a constituent criticized Republican support of Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs) for families who choose to home school or send their children to private schools, Loebsack said that he is against ESAs.
Loebsack was asked about his position on raising the debt limit. The Congressman said that he thinks that we need to “increase the debt ceiling flat-out, without complicated conditions or exceptions”.
Loebsack completed a tour of southern Iowa on Saturday. As the last remaining Democrat in the Iowa federal delegation, he faces a tough race in 2018.
