Republican presidential candidate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has announced the hiring of his Iowa state director, as well as the addition of new members to his grassroots leadership team.
Aaron Trost will be Huckabee’s point man in Iowa. He managed the successful campaign of U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) who, despite being outspent 10-to-1, managed to come from behind against two better-known candidates in the Republican primary. She defeated former U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey in the General Election.
Trost was one of 15 Republicans named a “Rising Star” by Campaigns and Elections in 2013.
Huckabee also announced additions to his grassroots leadership team, which his campaign claims is the “largest statewide organization any 2016 GOP candidate for president has built in Iowa.” In all, his leadership team is 145 members strong, representing 73 of Iowa’s 99 counties. Huckabee wil have visited 45 counties by the end of the month.
