U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has released his weekly video address in which he discusses the Every Child Achieves Act, which some education critics have dubbed “No Child Left Behind 2.0.” In his speech, Grassley is largely supportive of the bill, which passed out of the House earlier this week with the support of all four Iowa members.
“I expect debate on this bill to wrap up sometime next week,” he said. “The bill isn’t perfect, but it’s a move in the right direction. There is no reason to think that so-called experts in Washington know better than parents and teachers. We need to continue to work to reduce federal intervention and return authority to where it belongs: the states and local communities and ultimately parents.”
