U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has released his weekly video address in which he discusses the issue of illegal entrants who have committed serious crimes, but were not deported from the U.S. by the Obama Administration. A year-long investigation has uncovered 36,000 such cases in FY 2013 alone, of which 1,000 re-offended after their release. He also discovered 121 criminals are now accused of murder after being released instead of deported.
“Some of the releases are due to the unwillingness of countries to take back their criminals. However, many other individuals are being released at the discretion of the administration,” he said. “President Obama has said his administration is committed to focusing deportation efforts on criminals, yet these numbers seem to contradict those promises. I will continue to press the administration on what actions it will take to save American lives from these preventable murders.”
