U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley has released his weekly video address in which he discusses the FBI’s secret surveillance program. He said on Monday, he asked for more details on the scope and legal authority of the program.
“The FBI should be transparent about what policies are in place to protect the privacy of innocent Americans and guarantee that the program is not being abused,” he said. “It’s important that federal law enforcement personnel have the tools they need to catch criminals and keep us safe. However, we need to make sure that safeguards are in place to protect the privacy and civil liberties of those who are not the intended target.”
