The Senate will vote this afternoon on whether to proceed with Trade Promotion Authority legislation. This is a formal process for considering trade agreements in Congress once the agreements are signed by the United States and a trading partner.
Trade Promotion Authority gives the United States a stronger position at the negotiating table than without it. Trade expansion has tremendous potential to support jobs and investment in the United States. U.S. Sen. Grassley (R-IA) spoke this morning in support of Trade Promotion Authority and expanding trade.
He cited Iowa’s significant agricultural exports and named just a few of the many companies in Iowa that export a large portion of their goods and services and could have the potential to export even more under expanded trade: John Deere, 3M, Vermeer and Principal Financial Group. Listen here.
