The race for 2016 is already underway in Iowa as likely presidential candidates have begun scheduling January appearances here in the first-in-the-nation caucus state.
Thursday morning, Jake Dagel, coordinator for the Fourth Annual Siouxland Rally for Life, announced former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, 2012 winner of the Iowa Republican Caucus, will be the event’s honorary guest. The Pennsylvanian has made it known in recent weeks he intends to run a second time for the GOP presidential nomination.
In 2012, Santorum – who described himself as a “born again Catholic” – ran on a pro-life platform that appealed to social conservatives.
“Rick Santorum has proven time and time again to be an Iowa favorite,” Dagel said. “Santorum continually holds Judeo-Christian values at the front of everything he does with that first value being his support for life from conception until natural death.”
The Fourth Annual Siouxland for Life will be held Sunday, Jan. 25, at Cornerstone World Outreach in Sioux City. The event, which is open to the public, will begin at 3 p.m. A number of other local and national speakers will take part in the program.
