According to a report from a mainstream media source, Attorney General nominee U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch’s office in the Eastern District of New York pursued 58 cases against “John Doe” defendants since her appointment.
Only two of those were terror suspects, the NBC News investigation concluded.
The report also concluded Eastern District prosecutors have sought permission to close the courtroom to the public for 11 different Doe cases during the same period, and judges have granted permission in at least 10 of the cases, as recently as February 12. The practice has been criticized as a violation of citizens’ constitutionally protected rights to public trials.
